Cellulite Removal

If there were a magic pill that would provide overnight cellulite removal, most women over the world would line up to get it. According to research, about 85% and up to 98% of all women have some amount of cellulite. Since there is no such magical pill, let us take a look at the currently available treatments for cellulite reduction.

These cellulite removal treatments can be divided into 2 groups: non invasive and invasive methods of cellulite treatment. Among them, some claim permanent cellulite removal results and others will only deliver temporary improvement.

When choosing a treatment, you should always look at cellulite removal prices, as they can be very high for the results obtained. Keep in mind that the cellulite removal cost of home remedies, creams, diet and exercise is usually much lower than the cellulite treatment prices of sophisticated procedures, and the results can be quite promising.

Non Invasive Cellulite Removal

  • Diet and Exercising

This is the most natural way to get rid of cellulite. If you keep your entire body healthy, your skin would be healthy, too. Even though cellulite is not a disease, it is a condition which can be aggravated by an inactive lifestyle and poor eating habits. You do not need any special cellulite diet. You simply need to eat healthy, reduce your intake of fatty foods, and drink a lot of water.

As far as cellulite exercises are concerned, working out improves the blood and lymph circulation in the body, which provides your skin with better nourishment. It builds up your muscles and helps to burn fat.

A healthy diet and regular work out program can significantly help to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

  • Dietary Supplements

There are many supplements recommended for treating cellulite. However, there are no reliable scientific data to prove their efficacy. Most supplements are not registered as drugs and thus are not tested by the FDA. Most of these supplements have had no research or testing done on them and some products may not be safe for your health.

  • Massages

There are many devices that are being used for anti cellulite massage. Some of them use suction and roller massage to treat cellulite. Others combine massage with light or laser therapy. Even though massages can produce some results in decreasing the look of cellulite on your skin, this effect is always temporary. To maintain it, you would have to go on with the treatment. Such therapy is pretty expensive and time consuming. Long lasting effects of massages for cellulite removal are not proven.

  • Body Wraps

This treatment is often offered by beauty salons. Most of the time these cellulite body wraps are made with some herbal components. They can be effective for making the skin smoother and keeping it healthy, but they cannot treat cellulite. They may help your skin to get rid of extra water and they may make your cellulite less visible, but only for a short period of time.

  • Cellulite cream

Many cosmetic companies promote different creams and lotions, positioning them as miracle cure for cellulite. Some of these creams contain caffeine, others contain various chemicals, such as aminophylline, known for breaking down fats.

However, there is one problem with most cellulite creams: they cannot deliver enough of their working agent deep into the skin and saturate it in due proportion to produce any significant cellulite removal effect.

Invasive Cellulite Removal

  • Mesotherapy

This is not a cellulite removal surgery, but it is an invasive treatment. During its course a mix of herbs, vitamins and other substances is injected into the skin directly to the cellulite areas. Multiple injections have to be made during several sessions (up to 12 sessions). These injections are supposed to dissolve the fat and remove cellulite.

Here is what you should know about mesotherapy: it has not gone through enough medical testing and its side effects and other health consequences are unknown. Mostly the drugs used in injections are approved by the FDA, but approved for other uses than treating cellulite. There have also been a number of people who have experienced bad side-effects, so make sure you think twice before opting for such removal technique.

  • Liposuction

Since the 90s liposuction has been used for cellulite removal. However, its efficacy is doubtful. During liposuction the under skin fat gets removed, while cellulite is caused by the inside skin fat. In fact, this treatment can make cellulite even worse, because when the fat is removed, skin loosens up and orange peel shows more from under it.

  • Cellulite Subcision

This is the only treatment of cellulite which is known to provide long lasting results. However, it is one of the most traumatic treatments and damages the skin forever. Subcision is done by cutting the connective tissue pulls beneath the skin. When these pulls are cut, the skin has no more tension and it evens up, making fat cells inside it less sticking out. The effect of orange peel is reduced for good.

As you may see, there is no complete solution for cellulite removal. A combination of some treatments may deliver good results for temporary or permanent cellulite removal, but their success greatly depends on your cellulite condition and several other factors, including the skills of people who are providing the treatment.
